1944 and 1945 8th & 9th grade.
FIRST LOVE, Scarsdale Junior High.
My first girlfriend, was the daughter of Admiral Lockwood, who was COMSUBPAC in Pearl, He had left his family in Scarsdale, because he knew war was going to break out in the Pacific soon, and his family would be safer at home. She was a very beautiful young girl, and we were infatuated with each other. When we went to School dances or parties, both our parents would take turns driving us to and from the function. But this was only in the 8th, and 9th grades, and then we moved to Missouri. I didn't lose contact, we wrote letters to each other, and an occasional phone call, but that soon tapered off. In the early 80's, I went back to a class of 48 reunion, were I again met her up at a cocktail party in Connecticut. She was there with her husband, a Minister, with a church in New Jersey. When they left, The Reverend left his pipe and tobacco pouch there. I found it. And the next day, I drove to his rectory office, where he had just stepped out I filled the pipe lit it, got it going real good and left quietly, to this day, he still hasn't figured how it magically materialized in his ashtray.
